Child and Adolescent Psychopathology

January 25, 2014
Unit of study for Master of School Leadership: Psychopathology is a field concerned with the nature, development and treatment of psychological disorders.
Here’s a reconstructed sequence of our 4 day exploration of theories; emphasis was placed on the broad contextual impact. Flexible approaches are emphasised.
Goals of study:
  • Understand complexity of wellbeing;
  • Raise awareness to “person-environment reciprocal transactions” (Prinstein, 2012, p.2);
  • Identify trajectories adversely affecting mental health;
  • Minimise impact on learning through informed application of knowledge – in particular, the interplay of risk and protective factors.
