It’s official: Cooler autumnal nights freed the doona from storage.

Later-sunrise necessitates torch-bearing while I’m watering pots and refilling our bird bath.

And these sunsets:

Autumn majestic:

Burnished clouds soothe heat and glare;

shadows lengthening.

Similar patterns of shift are evident in the school-sphere:

  • we are no longer focused so intently on relationship building
  • classroom/ Edmodo parameters are squared off – settling emerges from clarity
  • expectations in terms of work norms, and effort have been clarified through formative assessment processes
  • extension opportunities (viewing Henry IV, participating in Rostrum Youth Speaking competition) are locked into the term’s schedule
  • tension is reduced, and fun percolates

No haiku for this state of being. But…

after a weekend spent marking…

there is gratitude.
